Both of my grandfathers served in the military, and one was a general surgeon. I listened to their stories growing up and absorbed their values, which led me to join the U.S. Air Force and become a neurosurgeon. As a neurosurgeon, I can offer surgical treatment to patients with disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems --- but my kids would tell you I am a “brain and back doctor,” and they would be right too! I grew up in Chico, CA, and still have strong ties to the area. After earning my medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine, I completed my residency at the Mayo Clinic.
